Triplett Fuels Willard Come Back At Shelby

In a fierce rivalry matchup at Shelby, the visiting Willard Flashes knocked off the Whippets for the first time in any players high school careers, erasing a 20 point second half deficit for a 67-58 victory.

Much of the first half action belonged to Shelby, who has dominated this rivalry in just about every sport for the last several seasons. The Whippets outscored Willard 21-7 in the second quarter to hold a commanding 36-19 halftime edge.

Senior forward Davon Triplett then took over the game in the third quarter, pouring in 17 of the Flashes 26 points as they evened up the score at 45 apiece. Over the final eight minutes, Willard continued to control the momentum, riding a 22-13 fourth quarter margin to victory.

Cooper Parrott added 20 points for Willard who improved to 8-3 overall, dropping Shelby to 7-6 on the season.
