Local Teams To Watch This Friday
Week 9 of the high school football season has arrived and for many area squads, it's win or no week 11.
Division 3, Region 10
#2 (7-1) Mansfield Senior @ D2, R7 (5-3) Mount Vernon: The Tygers had a tough setback last week with
a 1-point loss to Wooster, but only dropped one spot in the region. A win over the Jackets keeps them
alive for a home game in week 11.
Division 4, Region 14
#2 (7-1) Galion @ (2-6) KIPP Columbus: The Tigers fell a spot despite their week 8 win, but a win over
KIPP could put them back in the top spot.
#6 (5-3) Clear Fork vs. D2, R7 (3-5) Harding: The Colts missed a golden opportunity to all but seal a
playoff spot in an OT loss to Pleasant. However, they can grab major playoff points defeating the
#12 (5-3) Shelby vs. D3 R10 #8 (6-2) River Valley: The Whippets couldn't recover from an early deficit
against Lima Central Catholic and dropped two spots in the rankings. They can start working their way
back to the top 8 with a win over the Vikings.
Division 6, Region 22
#1 (7-1) Western Reserve vs. #9 (6-2) Crestview: The Roughriders snapped St. Paul's 50-game
conference win streak and clinched a playoff spot.
The Cougars can take a big step at clinching a spot in the top-8 with a win on the road.
#2 (7-1) Seneca East @ (4-4) Colonel Crawford: The Tigers clinched a spot in week 11 and can work
towards a home playoff game with a win over the Eagles.
#4 (7-1) Northmor vs (1-7) Fredricktown: The Golden Knights clinched a postseason spot thanks, in part,
to the bonus points they continue to get from their win against Lucas. They can continue towards a home
game with a win over the Freddies.
#5 (6-2) Hillsdale vs. (3-5) Smithville: The Falcons are close to clinching a spot in week 11 and could do
so as early as Friday night. They still have an outside shot to host with help.
#12 (4-4) Bucyrus vs. D4, R14 (2-6) Upper Sandusky: The Redmen stayed alive with its win over Colonel
Crawford last week and can get some extra playoff points and remain in the discussion with a win over
the Division 4 Rams.
Division 7, Region 25
#1 (7-1) Lucas @ D6, R21 (3-5) LaBrae: The Cubs did exactly what they needed to create distance at
the top of the region standings. They can clinch week 11 with a victory on Friday night.
Division 7, Region 26
#11 (6-2) Plymouth vs (4-4) South Central: The Big Red need to take care of business to set up a week
10 showdown with Crestview in a game that could determine who makes the postseason.
