Colts Stomp Ontario 43-7 On Homecoming
The Clear Fork Colts used a second-half surge to defeat Ontario 43-7 to move into a first-place tie in the MOAC.
The Colts (5-2) got on the board first with time winding down in the first quarter when Elijah Hughes ran in from 18 yards away making it 6-0 after one. The Clear Fork defense then came up big with a Collin Crider interception and turned it into another score as the second quarter began as QB Brennan South found Ashton Lyon from 21 yards away to extend the lead to 12-0.
Brady Tedrow then set the Colts up again in the second quarter with an interception which would lead to another Hughes touchdown run, this time from 2 yards out making it 18-0. Ontario (2-5) had a chance to cut into the lead as the second quarter wound down, but South intercepted a pass at the goal line to end the threat and the half.
Clear Fork fumbled the second-half kickoff leading to the Warriors only score of the game, a Jaylon Scott 4-yard run, cutting the lead to 18-7, but the Colts scored the games' final 24 points on a South to Gabe Blauser 5-yard pass, a Crider 8-yard run, a Deven Freeman 83-yard touchdown run and a Blauser 33- yard field goal.
The Colts moved up to 5th in the Division 4, Region 14 rankings and will travel to 5-2 Pleasant on Friday with plenty of playoff points on the line. The Warriors will look to bounce back as they host 6-1 Galion on Friday.
