Upper Wins 9th Straight, Cruise By Lex
Both teams entered Saturday's showdown at Lexington with long win streaks but it would be Upper Sandusky emerging with their 9-game win streak intact with a 68-53 victory over the Minutemen.
The red hot Rams never trailed in the contest, taking a 16-10 advantage into the second quarter and grew their lead to 32-23 by the break. Evan Young had a monster scoring night to ignite Upper's offense, dropping 18 of his game-best 27 points in the opening half as he connected on 4-6 triples in the first two quarters.
Lexington tried to battle back with Dylan Spears scoring a dozen of his team-high 16 pts in the second half but the Rams put the game out of reach before the fourth quarter even began. A 17-11 Upper Sandusky scoring margin in the third had the road team up 15 points heading into the final eight minutes where the Rams secured the win by connecting on 19-26 free throws.
Cam McCreary joined Young in double-figures with 17 pts while Mason Vent added 13 with 9 rebounds and 5 assists as Upper Sandusky improved to 9-1 on the season.
The Minutemen received 13 pts and 7 rebs from Max Waldruff, 11 pts from Kaydan Berry and eight from Danny Shaffer, dipping to 6-3 with the loss.
