Tygers Survive Perkins In 3 OT’s

Mansfield Senior avoided an 0-2 start with a thrilling 35-34 win at Sandusky Perkins in triple overtime.

The Tygers couldn’t get much going early in the contest, trailing the Pirates 7-0 at the half before scoring 14 unanswered points to hold a 14-7 edge in the final minutes of regulation. With just 24 seconds remaining, Perkins would score to force overtime where both teams were solid offensively.

Each squad found the end zone in all three extra sessions, but Senior High would block the Pirates PAT that would have forced a fourth overtime to secure a gutsy road win.

Tygers Jr. QB Angelo Grose went 6-13 for 44 yds and 2 TD, rushing 12 times for 103 yds and a score while Amejeon Robertson carried the rock 26 times for 70 yds and 2 TD.

Next up for Mansfield (1-1) is their home opener against Westerville North (2-0) while Perkins (0-2) will travel to Genoa Area (2-0).
