Tygers Pounce On Westerville North Early For 31-21 Win

Mansfield Senior ran out to an early lead in their home opener against Westerville North and closed out the Warriors for their second win in a row. The Tygers secured a 28-7 halftime lead and held off a late charge for a 31-21 victory.

Ta’Vion Harris scored a trio of rushing touchdowns in the first two quarters of action while the Senior High defense held Westerville North to just 24 yards of total offense. Jahi Glass returned a kick back for a Warriors touchdown midway through the first quarter but Armon Huguely took the ensuing kick back for a Tygers score to snatch back the momentum in an instant.

After a Zac Riley field goal on Mansfield’s opening possession of the second half, the Warriors scored a pair of unanswered touchdowns to close the gap to 31-21, but the Tygers aggressive defense would close the door on a Westerville North comeback.

Mansfield Senior (2-1) will next open conference play at unbeaten West Holmes (3-0) house.
