The Shelby Girls Golf team is going back to Columbus for the Division 2 State Tournament after finishing
fourth in the District Tournament at Sycamore Springs Golf Course.
The Lady Whippets finished four strokes better than Wayne Trace for the final state-qualifying spot with a
score of 379.
Sophomore Nicole Jones led the team with a 77, which placed her 6th in the individual rankings. Senior
Julia Gutchall was second on the team with an 86, which placed 12th overall. Junior Gillian Stumbo shot
a 99 while Sophomore Maci Westmeister shot a 117. Sophomore Tressie Carroll shot a 140, which was
not used towards the team score.
Lima Central Catholic won the district championship with a score of 334. Huron was second with a 367
and St. Henry finished third with a 371, eight shots better than Shelby.
The Division 2 State Tournament will be held on Friday, Oct. 11th and Saturday, Oct. 12th at The Ohio
State University Gray Course in Columbus.
