The Cougars Den
Crestview Comeback Crashes Flyers
OLIVESBURG - A fast start for state-ranked Norwalk St. Paul ended with the Flyers crashing into a 60-55 defeat at the Cougars Den in a signature win for Crestview who erased a 19-point second-half deficit.
St. Paul (7-2) was cooking at the offensive end in the opening frame, claiming a 21-10 advantage that grew to 38-23 by the halftime break. Senior guard Nick Winslow put up a game-high 19 points to help extend the Flyers edge early in the third, then the Cougars began to find their stride and build momentum in their favor.
Behind Player of the Game Evan Gibbs, who filled it up for 19 points himself, Crestview (7-3) started to hit shots while clamping down St. Paul defensively. A 20-10 Cougars push in the third trimmed the margin down to 48-43 before a stingy defensive performance and icy shooting by the Flyers allowed Crestview to seal an impressive comeback win.
