Girls Varsity Soccer

Fall sports officially kicked off at Lexington on Friday where All-Ohioan Kyla Spencer helped lift Ontario to a 4-1 victory. The stud sophomore was on a mission scoring on two goals and assisting on another.

“She wasn't being selfish enough," head coach Larry Atkinson said of Spencer's mentality early in the match. "In the second half when she started to do it again I called her over and talked to her about what she needed to be doing and what was better for the team and what would open things up for her teammates.”

The match was tied at 1-1 at the half with Spencer and Lexington's Lauren Alexander notching scores, but senior Allura Carpenter scored with 29:55 left to play to give the Lady Warriors for the lead for good. Kyla later scored her second goal then assisted Abby Potter in the final 3 minutes of the game to seal Ontario's victory.

Both of these two schools will be a force to be reckoned with for the rest of the season, but for now, the Ontario girls will hold bragging rights in this heated rivalry until the squads likely meet again in the postseason.

Ontario travels to St. Marys on August 29th. Lexington hosts Mansfield Senior on Thursday August 27th.
