Firelands Conference Boys Basketball

Trojans Stymie Plymouth In 53-27 Blowout

Defense owned the night for South Central in a 53-27 win over Plymouth in front of their home fans in Greenwich, frustrating the Big Red offense from the opening tip.

Plymouth would fail to crack double-digits in any quarter, scoring a single field goal in the first as they fell behind 10-3. The Trojans continued to play lockdown defense in the second, outscoring the Big Red 13-6 to own a 23-9 halftime advantage.

David Lamoreaux then scored six of his 10 points in the third as SC put the game out of reach with an 18-9 scoring margin, and would pull away early in the fourth. Behind Simon Blair, who dropped nine of his game-best 21 in the early portion of the final frame, the Trojans ran away with a lopsided win as Walker Elliott scored all nine of  Plymouth's fourth quarter points.

Elliott finished the contest with 13 while Zeth Goth added seven and Jace Barber had three to pace the Big Red attack as they fell to 7-8 with the loss.

South Central got eight points from Blaine Wheeler and seven from Evan Legg to go along with Blair and Lamoreux's scoring efforts, improving to 13-2 on the season with an 8-1 mark in Firelands Conference play.
