Cubs Maul Trojans 70-54 To Remain Unbeaten
The Lucas Cubs showed they're a force in the area with an impressive 70-54 win over defending District champion South Central at the Cub Cave to remain undefeated at 7-0.
The first quarter was pretty even with Lucas holding a slim 12-10 advantage before taking control in the following stanza. Senior forward Logan Niswander poured in 12 of his game-high 27 points in the second to help the Cubs build a commanding 38-22 halftime lead as the home team put up 26 in the frame.
The Trojans would make adjustments out of the break, holding Lucas to just seven points as they trimmed the deficit to 45-35 heading into the fourth. Niswander would hit a milestone along the way with his 1,000th career point before fueling a 25-19 Cubs run to end the contest with a lopsided victory.
Simon Blair led South Central's scoring attack with 13 points while David Lamoreaux added 10, Isaiah Seidel had nine and Sam Seidel chipped-in with eight. The loss is the second straight for the Trojans following a 9-0 start.
Riley Gossom put up 17 Lucas points to go along with Niswander's monster performance, followed by Carson Hauger with 11 and Ethan Sauder's eight.
