SHELBY -- Shelby dropped 27 fourth-quarter points to close out 2020 with a 65-60 win over Ontario on their home floor in MOAC action.

TJ Pugh led all scorers with 20 points for the Whippets, but started slowly with just five of those coming in the first half. The contest was tied at 17-17 entering the second where Shelby outscored the Warriors 10-7, but found themselves trailing after a 16-11 run by Ontario in the third.

In the final frame, Cody Lantz scored nine of his 17 Whippets points including a 5-5 shooting performance from the free-throw line to complete a key comeback victory for the conference race. Griffin Shaver put up 14 points to lead Ontario while Kolten Kurtz added 13 and Gage Weaver 10.

Ontario (7-2, 3-1) will look to bounce back from their first league loss against Ashland (7-2) on Saturday while Shelby (5-1, 3-0) hosts Mansfield Senior (1-0) in a Richland County showdown.
