PEPPER PIKE -- The Hathaway Brown Blazers clinched a spot in a Division 1 Sectional Final defeating Shaker Heights 62-33.

 

The 16th-seeded Blazers started 3-of-4 from the field and never looked back, building an 8 point lead at 15-7 after one then matching its output in the second for a 30-15 at the break.

 

The 21st-seeded Red Raiders had not been on the court in over two weeks due to COVID which slowed their start and they were unable to recover shooting 25% from the field. 

 

Shaker Heights was led by Tahsja Jackson's 9 points while Kamryn Ruffin followed with 6 points.

 

Hathaway Brown had a balanced offensive attack led by Gia Piscitelli's game high 18 points. Jermaini Jones also scored in double figures. The Blazers move on to a sectional final where they will face 14th-seeded Avon Lake on Saturday at 1:00.
