A local boy who passed away in late 2010 continues to save lives through his tragic absence.
The Sam Tridico Memorial Blood Drive is now in it’s eighth year of collecting donations from the greater Mansfield community, becoming one of the largest of it’s kind in Richland County over that time. Sam is described as always being “bright and cheerful”, even throughout his treatments for severe aplastic anemia when he received 16 red blood cell and 26 platelet transfusions.
Recognizing the need for blood donations after supporting her son during his fight, Sam’s mother Judy Tridico helped establish the blood drive, which is held at St. Peter’s Franciscan Activity Center in downtown Mansfield, sharing the same love and faith with donors that Sam showed during his life.
The American Red Cross will be accepting blood donors from 8 am – 8 pm on April 17 at the Franciscan Center for all comers.
