River Valley Hands Clear Fork 1st Loss
By Brian Skowronski
BELLVILLE, OH -- River Valley put an end to Clear Fork's perfect start to the season, handing the Lady Colts their first loss with a 3-1 win inside the Colt Corral.
The Lady Vikings never trailed through the first two sets, taking advantage of Clear Fork miscues on their way to a 25-15 win in the opening set followed by a 25-16 second set victory. Led by senior OH Abbie Waddell, River Valley then built another early cushion in the third set before Aubrey Bailey got hot from the service line, leading the Colts to 11-straight points to help force a fourth set.
For the first time in the match, Clear Fork got out to an early lead in the fourth but couldn't overcome a rough patch in the middle of the set where the Vikings seized control. Waddell would fittingly record the final service point to close out the match, lifting River Valley to an impressive road victory.
Next up for the Lady Vikings (2-1) is a home match vs Ontario on Thursday when the Colts host Galion.
