Three of the top musical performers in North Central Ohio went song for song in a championship showdown at the finale of Rising Stars at Bucks season 6 where a winner was crowned to complete the eight-week competition.
Each contestant performed a trio of songs in front of a live studio audience, including a selection by the panel of judges and an original track they wrote themselves. After the votes were tallied from the audience, online viewers and the four judges, Jevan Cole was named the winner, edging out fellow finalists Ashley Burke and Noah Sgambellone.
Cole says he was “totally surprised” by the victory, noting the talent of his competitors.
Event founder Lisa Sleeckx, who serves as a judge for the show, says that Coles “consistency to be different and keep changing it up” is what put him over the top throughout the competition.
“He knew who he was and what kind of music he wanted to make,” said guest judge Matti-Lynn Chrisman, the reigning Miss Ohio. “It made me want to root for him,” she added.
In addition to receiving a $1,000 grand prize, Cole will have an original song aired by a local radio station and six hours of professional studio time, which he hopes will open more doors for his music career in the future.
