Ontario XC Pushing Towards Competitive Progress
The Ontario cross-country team doesn’t have a storied tradition of excellence as of yet, but the Warriors are breeding a new era of competition that appears headed towards sustained success unlike any the program has achieved to this point.
Under the direction of coach Meghan Willeke, the girl’s team has quadrupled over the last four years with the squad boasting a healthy roster of 22 runners. A mixture of veterans and talented freshman has seen the Lady Warriors consistently finish near the top of the podium in each competition they’ve run at this season.
The boy’s team hasn’t tasted the same type of steady success, but senior’s Carson Walters and Connor Watts are committed to bringing along a capable group of younger runners to set the program up for increased prosperity in the future. The team continues to improve each week as they set the bar higher for their own goals at the end of the campaign.
