THE FUTURE OF LOCAL SPORTS

For the third time in the last four seasons, the Ontario boys’ soccer team is advancing to districts in tournament play. The third-seeded Warriors defeated #8 Mansfield Senior 5-0 to claim the sectional championship, their second consecutive shutout to open postseason action.

 

Senior forward Andrew Cacchio scored a pair of goals and added an assist, as Ontario took a 3-0 halftime edge over the Tygers. Early in the second half senior defender Jayden Jacobs scored his first goal of the season on a perfectly timed header while Brennan Blaising rounded out the Warriors scoring attack.

 

Ontario (11-5-2) now advances to the Division II District Semifinals to battle #2 Vermilion (14-1-2) at Lexington.
