Ontario Upsets Sailors For Sectional Crown
Ontario went on the road and defeated Vermilion 3-0 for the D2 Sectional Championship, upsetting the 3rd-seeded Sailors for the title.
The Warriors played through bitter cold and kept their defense strong against Vermilion throughout the contest, holding the Sailors high-powered offense off the board the entire night. Josh Young put Ontario in the lead at the 23:29 mark of the first half, gunning a shot through traffic for the first score of the match.
After carrying a 1-0 advantage into halftime, Warriors senior forward Kyle Woods would make good on a P.K. less than four minutes into the second that allowed Ontario to position themselves better defensively with a 2-0 edge. Woods later smashed in his second goal with under four minutes remaining to ice a Warriors victory.
#6 Ontario (9-5-3) now moves on to face #2 Madison, who they tied 3-3 earlier this month, in the D2 Clyde District Semifinals.
