Minutemen Smack Jackets 47-32
Lexington got back on track with a 47-32 win over Mount Vernon in front of their home fans in OCC play.
The Minutemen never trailed in the contest, running out to a 14-5 advantage after the first and grew their lead to 27-13 by the half. The third quarter would be the only frame the Jackets would score in double-figures, outscoring Lexington 15-13 to pull within a dozen as the game entered the fourth.
A stellar defensive effort from the purple and gold would shutdown any Mount Vernon comeback attempt, though, as the Minutemen stymied the Jackets offense to just four points as they closed out an impressive 15 point victory by holding them to 12-40 shooting for the game.
Max Waldruff led Lex with 16 pts on 7-13 FG's and grabbed seven rebounds, while teammate Dylan Spears added eight pts, Danny Shaffer seven and Kaydan Berry added six. Blake Meyer was the top scorer for Mount Vernon with seven, followed by five points each from Nolan Meier, Connor Fisher and Beau Bridges.
The win lifts the Minutemen to 8-4 for the season with a 5-1 mark in OCC action while the Jackets fall to 4-8, 3-3.
