Lima Senior Runs Over Mansfield With BIG 2nd Half
Mansfield Senior matched state-ranked Lima Senior’s physical play and tenacity throughout the opening half but couldn’t hang with the Spartans down the stretch as the Tygers fell 82-67 at Pete Henry Gymnasium.
Behind Quan Hilory, who scored 16 of his team-high 23 points in the first half, Mansfield built an 18-15 cushion heading into the second quarter and trailed by a single score at 36-34 heading into the break. Lima Senior then drilled 6 of 9 three-pointers in the second half as Jermaine Daniel came off the bench and connected on eight triples for a game-best 24 points.
The Spartans outscored Senior High 22-15 in the third and put the contest to rest with a 24-18 edge in the final quarter of play, receiving 18 points from Josiah Fulcher and 11 & 11 rebounds by Jamir Simpson. Ten different Tygers got in the scorebook for Mansfield, who finished 25-58 (43%) from the floor to Lima’s 30-65 (46%) shooting performance, but the Spartans 13-25 (52%) display from beyond the arc made the difference.
The loss ends Mansfield Senior’s (14-4) 3-game win streak while Lima Senior (15-3) now extends their streak to 3-straight.
