Lexington Rides Explosive Plays To Win At Mansfield

It was a slow start for Lexington on the road at Mansfield Senior but the Minutemen produced a number of big plays in the second half to claim a 44-16 win at Arlin Field in Week 6.

After falling behind 9-0, Lex would produce some momentum with a blocked punt in the second quarter that turned into a Kayden Berry fumble recovery in the end zone and the big plays would begin snowball from there for the purple and gold. Berry would give the Minutemen a 14-9 halftime edge with a 9-yard TD run before the break, and the Lex ground game would take over from that point forward.

Along with stud senior Cade Stover, who racked up 228 yards and 2 scores on 15 carries, Berry would help lead Lex to a dominating victory with 147 rush yards and a pair of scores. Tygers junior WR Angelo Grose also produced several explosive plays, scoring both Senior High’s TD’s on the night, but twice had long scores called back due to penalties.

The win keeps Lexington (2-4, 2-1) just a game back in the OCC race with a big game next week against West Holmes (5-1, 2-1). Mansfield Senior falls to 2-4, 0-2, and will next travel to Ashland (5-1, 2-0) for a date with the Arrows.
