Lex Guns Down Fliers 60-55
The Lexington win streak is now four in a row with a 60-55 win over visiting Clyde on their home surface.
The Fliers (0-1) were making their season debut after winning the Division IV football State Championship, but would take a 13-11 advantage into the second quarter. Behind Kaydan Berry and Max Waldruff who combined for 23 first half points, the Minutemen take the lead into the half by a score of 30-27.
The deciding minutes of play came in the third where Lexington (4-2) put together a 20-11 scoring spurt that appeared to put the game out of reach at 50-38, but Clyde would battle back to within a score late in the fourth. A costly technical foul in the closing minutes on the Fliers combined with clutch Minutemen free throws would then seal a victory for the purple and gold.
Waldruff led all scorers with 21 on 5-10 shooting while Berry went 6-9 from the field with 18 pts and Dylan Spears added a dozen with 7 rebounds to lead Lex. Jack Morrison and Jaden Cook each scored 17 to pace Clyde's offensive attack, also receiving 9 from Carson Rieman.
Next up for the Minutemen is a visit from OCC foe Madison (2-5) while Clyde hosts Ashland (0-5).
