Lexington vs Ontario
Ontario High School
Lexington Blanks Ontario For 6th Straight Win
The good times keep on rolling for the Lexington baseball squad who shutout cross-county rival Ontario 9-0 on the road to extend their winning streak to six.
The Minutemen got on the board early, taking a 1-0 edge in the top of the first when Josh Aiello scored on a wild pitch from Warriors starter Avery Fisher, who would go on to surrender 7 runs in 3.1 innings of work. The game then remained at a 1-0 stale mate until Lexington exploded for seven runs in their offensive half of the fourth.
Aiello finished 2-3 with 2 runs, 2 walks and an RBI for a balanced Minutemen offense that saw seven different players produce hits with six driving in runs. Starting pitcher Ben Vore was lights out for Lex, throwing five innings of 2 hit ball while striking out nine before handing things over to Austin Basham who allowed just 2 baserunners with 3 K’s.
Since opening the season at 0-3, Lexington (11-6) has now won 11 of their last 14 games and are tied for the OCC lead. Ontario (10-11) has not been able to find the same success they did last year when the squad won 24-straight and competed for a regional title, but are still in the mix to repeat as MOAC champs.
