Lexington Wins At Madison For OCC Title

An intense battle between the top two area boys’ soccer teams saw Lexington clinch at least a share of the OCC crown with a 3-1 win over Madison at the Rams Soccer Complex.

The game started with a wild 15-minute track meet with Dylan Metz striking first for the Rams at the 33:42 mark. Lexington followed that up with back to back goals by Gage Potter and Ryan Parker in a five-minute stretch to gain the lead which put the road squad up 2-1 at the half.

Madison spent the majority of the second stanza in Minutemen territory where they put 11 shots on frame for the match but were unable to beat keeper Kaleb Rinehart who got incredible support from the backline. Lexington would generate a handful of opportunities with swift counter-attacks, eventually breaking through with just 3:44 to play on a Gavin George goal setup by Aiden Murray to seal the victory.

With just 1 more league match remaining, state-ranked Lexington (11-1) can clinch the OCC outright with a win over Wooster (5-5-2) at home on Oct 1. Madison (10-2) has now lost 2-straight following a 10-0 start to their season and will next face Ontario on Oct 3.
