Lady Warriors Clip Redbirds 56-49
The Ontario Lady Warriors picked up a big non-conference victory on Tuesday night defeating last year's
Division 3 district finalist Loudonville 56-49 at the O-Rena.
The game started off even until late in the opening quarter when Ashten Vavra hit back-to-back threes
giving Ontario (2-1) a 15-11 lead after one. The second quarter would be different as the Redbirds (4-1) used its fast break and perimeter shooting by Emily Seboe to outscore the Lady Warriors 20-10 to take a 31-25 lead into the break.
Ontario played its best defensive quarter in the third, however, holding Loudonville to only 7 points as
they shut down the Redbirds fast-break offense to take a 40-38 lead into the final quarter.
The Lady Warriors then pushed their lead to 49-43 with just over 3:00 left when Seboe cut the lead in
half on a three-pointer to make it 49-46, but it would be the closest Loudonville would get as Seboe would foul out moments later allowing Ontario to finish the game on a 7-3 run to close the victory out.
The Lady Warriors were led by Vavra, who scored a team-high 18 points. Carleigh Pearson added 14
points in the win. Emily Seboe scored a game-high 23 points for Loudonville while Grace Vermilya added 16 points.
