Northmor Wins Big At Mount Gilead
The Northmor Golden Knights went on the road to rival Mount Gilead and came out with a 47-13 victory to remain undefeated.
Northmor (5-0) got on the board on its first drive of the game as Hunter Mariotti found Gavin Ramos for a 6-yard passing score making it 6-0. They then added on less than five minutes later when Wyatt Reader ran in from 5 yards away making it 13-0 with 4:42 left in the opening quarter.
The Golden Knights extended its lead to 19-0 with 5:50 left in the half on a Mariotti 4-yard keeper, but Mount Gilead (2-3) would answer before the break with a touchdown to cut the score to 19-7 at the half.
Northmor then added on to its lead in the third as Mariotti and Reader added their second scores of the game to make it 33-7.
Mount Gilead opened the fourth quarter with a touchdown pass to cut the lead to 20 at 33-13 with 10:44 left, but Reader put the game away with his third rushing score of the game from 11 yards out and Tyler Boggs finished the scoring for the Golden Knights with just under a minute left in the game for the 47-13 final.
Northmor moves to 2-0 in the KMAC while holding on to the top spot in the Division 6, Region 22 playoff rankings. They host 5-0 East Knox on Friday in a game that could determine the KMAC championship.
Mount Gilead will look to bounce back on Friday as they head to 3-2 Centerburg.
