Galion Sweeps Buckeye Central 3-0
For 17th Consecutive Victory
October 7, 2019
The Galion volleyball squad proved they were the top team in the area with a 3-0 sweep of Buckeye Central in a battle between state-ranked foes on senior night.
The Tigers (20-1), who entered the match ranked #8 in Div III, took total control from the start of a 25-12 first set beat down but would get pushed in the following game. The Buckettes (16-4), who were ranked #14 in D IV coming into the match, rode Kendra Ackerman's 9 kill performance to give BC a shot at taking the second set after falling behind but Galion would close out a 25-23 victory for a commanding 2-0 lead.
With senior Taylor Keeran and juniors Samantha Comer and Jaden Ivy each recording 14 kills, the Tigers closed out a sweep with a 25-14 third set, the 19th 3-set win by Galion this season and 17th consecutive victory. The Tigers finish with an undefeated record at home this season, losing only once to D1 Bishop Watterson on the road on Aug 28.
Galion heads to Riverdale on Wednesday looking to finish the regular season with a 21-1 record. Buckeye Central will travel to Bucyrus on Tuesday before wrapping-up at home with Colonel Crawford on Thursday.
