Dawg Check – Preseason Week 2
Aug 13, 2019
Coming off an impressive performance in their preseason opener where the Browns beat Washington 30-10, the team returned to practice for their third week of Training Camp.
Cleveland was in full pads for the third consecutive practice and looked sharp on both sides of the ball.
Offensively, Baker Mayfield only had one mistake in team competition, throwing an interception to Damarious Randall on a deep out pattern. The 2nd-year pro hooked up with Rashard Higgins for a pair of long touchdowns, however, as "Hollywood" received more reps with Odell Beckham Jr. sitting out of team drills.
Both Nick Chubb and Dontrell Hilliard showed explosiveness out of the backfield, with each ripping off long scoring runs. Hilliard struggled in blocking drills, though, having trouble stopping young linebackers get to the querterback.
The defensive line continues to impress, led by Pro Bowl defensive end Myles Garrett who looked unblockable at times during live team drills. Overall, the guys felt as though the Browns had a solid practice as they get ready to travel to Indianapolis for a date with the Colts on Saturday.
