Week 6 Unkrich Stadium at Heise Park
Clear Fork vs Galion
South's Huge Night Lifts Colts In Galion
Galion (5-1) took an undefeated record into their Week 6 matchup with Clear Fork (4-2), but the 2-time defending MOAC champs would hand the Tigers their first loss on Homecoming night by a final score of 31-21.
The difference in the game was Colts senior QB/DB Brennan South who accounted for every Clear Fork score and even recovered a Galion fumble in the closing minutes to seal the victory.
South hooked up with Ashton Lyon on a 30-yard throw that put the Colts ahead 7-0 early in the first, then barreled his way in from 12-yards out just before the half to make it 14-0. Following a 22-yard field goal, South found the end zone for a third time on a 6-yard run, building Clear Fork a 24-zip advantage before the Tigers offense finally came to life.
Galion would run-off 21-unanswered points with Wilson Frankhouse tossing TD passes to Jackson Staton (60 yards) Hanif Donaldson (6 yds) and Isaiah Alsip (64 yds) that trimmed the deficit to 24-21 with more than half of the 4th quarter remaining.
A long Colts scoring drive capped off by a 3-yard TD run by South on 4th & Goal would put an end to the Tigers comeback as Clear Fork bounces back from last week's loss with an impressive performance on the road.
South finished 25-36 through the air for 264 yds and a score, adding 85 rushing yards on 24 attempts with 3 TD's.
