Chaise Nelson Ready To Conquer Pro Boxing
It’s been a longer wait than professional boxer Chaise Nelson would have hoped, but the Mansfield native appears to be making his way up the ranks in his sport.
Barely 21-years-old, Nelson (7-1) is already seeking his eighth pro victory with a new promoter out of Texas, where he will be competing on Dec 8 in Austin. The Ontario grad will face Manuel Rubalcava in a 4-Round bout at the Austin Sports Center, a matchup Chaise believes should end with a career-boosting knockout in his favor.
Before signing with his new promoter, however, Nelson did not fight for nearly 16 months until a unanimous decision victory over Jahaziel Vazquez in early October. Given the lengthy hiatus, the stud featherweight admits he should be “really past” where he is, with “at least twelve or thirteen wins” at this point in his career.
Under the umbrella of Underwood Promotions now, Nelson says he plans to stay extremely active in the ring with a management team that has his “best interest in mind”. His goal is to become the youngest world champion ever to come from the storied boxing city of Mansfield, Ohio.
