Adelman Pitches St Paul Past Plymouth To Firelands Crown

PLYMOUTH -- A pitcher's duel for the Firelands Conference championship saw Scotty Adelman’s shutout give St Paul their fourth straight league title with a 2-0 win at Plymouth to secure the crown.

The Big Red (12-6, 10-3) had a big opportunity to end the Flyers (18-6, 12-2) reign as conference champs behind a gem from starter Zeth Goth but simply couldn’t provide any run support. Goth carried Plymouth into the seventh inning knotted in a scoreless tie by fanning eight St Paul batter and allowing seven hits in the game. The Flyers did their best work from the dish with the game hanging in the balance, however, as Luke Blum and Drew Kuhnle came through with RBI singles to account for the only runs of the contest.

Adelman was lights out from the very start, allowing just 4 hits and 2 walks in his 7 innings of work, striking out 14 Big Red hitters along the way. The final three batters of the game would all go down on strikes to the senior, who won league titles every year of his high school career.
