Bucyrus Holds Off Col. Crawford To Take N-10 Lead

NORTH ROBINSON ---  The Bucyrus Lady Red used a 14 strikeout performance from Caleigh Rister to knock off Colonel Crawford 6-3 to take a one-game lead in the N-10.

Bucyrus (13-2, 10-1 N-10) struck first in the top of the first with two out 2RBI double by Ashley Davis.

Colonel Crawford (16-3, 11-2) answered in the bottom of the second when Alivia Studer sent a 3-2 pitch well over the centerfield fence to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The Lady Red answered back in the top of the fifth after loading the bases with three consecutive walks to start the inning Adacyn Rister scored via wild pitch and Jade Torres scored on a Taisha Spears sacrifice squeeze to make it 4-1.

Studer again cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth leading off the inning with a double. She then stole third and on the play scored on a throwing error making it 4-2.

Bucyrus again answered in the top of the seventh two more times on an RBI single by Sierra Frost and a fielding error that scored Davis.

Colonel Crawford got a break with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Allison Weithman was hit by a pitch. She then took second and scored on a Kaylyn Risner two out RBI single making it 6-3.

That put Studer on deck as the tying run, but Rister would get Jostyn Gallant to fly out to left field to end the game.

With the win, Bucyrus moves a game ahead of Colonel Crawford for first in the Northern 10 standings with both teams meeting on Friday at Bucyrus for the final game of their series.
