The Ontario football team was looking to make it two wins in a row following a tough
Week 1 loss, and did just that in a 55-29 victory over Black River in a contest that would be postponed halfway through because of weather.
The Warriors got on the board early, then increased their lead to 14-0 on a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown by Owen Hatfield midway through the 1st quarter. The Pirates would take advantage of an Ontario miscue on a punt return by marching 45 yards into the end zone following the turnover.
Ontario would run off 13 unanswered points to own a 27-7 lead with 8.6 seconds remaining in the first half before the game would be postponed until 10 am on Saturday.
The Warriors recovered an onside kick to start the second half, cashing in the extra possession for a touchdown drive. A string of turnovers then hit both offenses with the score 43-21 in favor of Ontario late in the third.
Over the final 13 minutes, Ontario got on the board twice more to wrap up a convincing win in their home opener.
