Wooster Wins Outright OCC Title With Win Over Ashland 9-8

Wooster was set to host traveling Ashland, with a win the Generals would win the OCC crown outright, they would do so in dramatic fashion winning 9-8 in extra frames.

Ashland was looking to play spoiler as they came out of the gates fast as Braeden Reymer had an RBI and the rest would come off of Wooster Errors. Quickly it was 4-0 after the top of the 1st in favor of the Arrows. Wooster would strike back as Tyler Pettorini had an RBI double in the bottom of the first, Elisha Steiner would get an RBI as well. Wayne Gerrick had a sac fly in the same inning as the Generals trailed 4-3 after the first inning.

Pettorini would get the Generals back onto the scoreboard again as he had a sac fly to centerfield which would tie the game at 4 a piece. Blake Bowen also had a sac fly to send Zach Harpster home which would give Wooster their first lead of the night. Both squads would go quiet until the bottom of the 5th.

None other than Tyler Pettorini would deliver yet again in the bottom of the 5th with a solo home run shot that seemed to touch the sun before coming back down outside of the right field wall.

Generals would get some more insurance in the bottom of the 6th from Harpster who had a sac bunt to send a runner home making it 7-4 in favor of the Generals. Ashland would go down swinging as they got three runs in the top of the 7th, two coming from Chase Hunt’s 2 run RBI double. Braeden Reymer would capitalize with a heads up play sliding into first base ensuring they would get the score at the plate. Ashland would walk to make it 8-7 heading ito the bottom of the 7th. Ashland had an error at third base that would send Pettorini home making it all tied up at 8.

We would head to extra as the Arrows went down 1,2,3 leaving it up to Wooster. The Generals wouldn’t leave the inning due to Tyler Pettorini sac fly to center field that sent the runner home for the win. Wooster wins the OCC with the win over the Arrows in extras 9-8.
