MANSFIELD -- A night of fun and excitement saw the high school basketball season come to a close at the 1st ever Queens of the Hardwood All-Star event, hosted by The OH.Report at Mansfield Senior High School.

Participants were made up of mostly top players from Richland County with a few competing from surrounding areas. The event kicked off with a team Skills Competition where competitors learned their partners moments before taking the court. Eight duo's would make their way through the course, with the tandem of St. Peter's Kiyah Wentz and Galion's Lexi Rush posting a winning time of 54 seconds.

 

In the 3-Point Shootout, eight entrants would begin the contest with four advancing to the championship round. Ontario's Carleigh Pearson applied some major pressure to favorite Olivia Baker of Shelby with 14 makes in the finals, but the Lady Whippets junior drained each of her last three shots for a winning total of

15 to claim the title.

Then in the All-Star Game, the veteran Queens of Hearts squad, coached by Madison's Brian Davis, would get off to a fast start to hold a 38-34 advantage at the half. The Hearts would go cold in the second half from the floor, however, as the Queens of Clubs, coached by Mansfield's Jevar Hudgens, outscored their opponents 32-22 over the final 20 minutes to take a 66-60 victory.

Baker would be named MVP for scoring a game-best 22 points and collecting 9 rebounds, which included two made field goals from 4-point range.
